Do We Really Need a Mascot?

What makes the Steelers so special is that they are a throwback team in era of flash and glitz. The football product is more than good enough to stand on its own. We don’t need cheerleaders or mascot to draw us in. So why would the Rooney’s agree to a mascot now?

Let’s hope that Steely McBeam rides off into the sunset after this season. I have a strong feeling that his name alone can at least land him a few roles in some fetish porn. By this time next year, nobody will even remember the Steelers ever had a mascot.
